El año pasado me encontre creadon solo por el placer de hacerlo. Me encontre con momento de mi carrera en donde la creatividad solo era explorada en momentos de trabajo y eso traia sentimientos un poco negativos conmigo misma.
Necesitaba un momento de creatividad sin sentir presión en el resultado o en “debo crear para producir más ingresos”. Así que con mi amiga Jenna nos lanzamos a hacer un curso en ceramica 1 y tecnicas manuales en nuestra univeridad local.
Adicional, aprendi por mi misma a coser, el primer proyecto que hice fue arreglar un par de panatalones con la maquina de coser de la abuela de Garrett y luego me lance a hacer un chaleco para el cumpleaños de una amiga….todo el proceso fue muy lindo, hubo varios días donde no sabia que hacia y otro donde todo fluía. Si alguna vez has cosido en tu vida puedes saber que comienzas pensando que todo sera rapido pero que en el camino debes resolver muchos problemas, y me encanto el sentirme retada y darme cuenta de como mi mente resulolvia cada situación.
Seguí este tutorial para hacer el chaleco por Sydney Graham. El patrón de la corona lo hice yo misma, muy pronto lo compartiré.
No puedo describirte lo impactante que fue crear afuera de mi trabajo, siento que incremento mi confianza y senti que alimento mi alma de una forma absurda. Realmente creo que es importante que aparte de tu trabajo creativo, puedas explorar aprender algo, puedas dejarte llevar y no pensar mucho en como terminara, o que lo debes de vender o si le gustrá a alguien, solo por el simple placer de crear.

Last year I found myself creating just for the pleasure of it. I found myself in a moment in my career where creativity was only explored in work moments and that brought back some negative feelings about myself.
I needed a moment of creativity without feeling pressured about the result or “I must create to produce more income.” So with my friend Jenna we launched into taking a course in ceramics 1 and manual techniques at our local university.
Additionally, I taught myself to sew, the first project I did was to fix a pair of pants with Garrett’s grandmother’s sewing machine and then I launched into making a vest for a friend’s birthday… the whole process was very nice, there were several days where I didn’t know what to do and others where everything flowed. If you have ever sewn in your life you can know that you start thinking that everything will be fast but that along the way you have to solve many problems, and I loved feeling challenged and realizing how my mind solved each situation.
I can’t describe to you how impactful it was to create outside of my work, I feel like it increased my confidence and I felt like I was feeding my soul in an absurd way. I really think it’s important that outside of your creative work, you can explore learning something, you can let yourself go and not think too much about how it will end, or that you should sell it or if someone will like it, just for the simple pleasure of creating.
